Gorman’s Designer Room Program

Gorman’s Designer Room Program

Gorman’s Home Furnishings & Interior Design recently rolled out its Designer Rooms Program, in which a Gorman’s interior designer starts with an inspiration piece and creates an entire room inside of one of Gorman’s showrooms. This helps people visualize what an interior designer can do. Design consultant Yolanda Williams created a room in Gorman’s Southfield showroom that is contemporary but purposely brings in some warmer elements. Gorman’s aims to spark inspiration with this program, and the rooms will rotate roughly every quarter.

Italian Interior Concepts

Italian Interior Concepts

Stefano Mularoni, one of the owners of Italian Interior Concepts, grew up in an area of Italy that’s famous for its furniture making and kitchens. He wanted to bring some of that here to Michigan, and the business started about five years ago. Now, Italian Interior Concepts is a design and furniture boutique in Royal Oak that offers the experience of shopping for a wide range of Italian-made pieces—and sometimes, this even includes flying the client to Italy to peruse some of the best brands there. The company is committed to high quality, but this type of design is much more affordable than most people think, Mularoni says.

Disability Made Easy

The Troy-based company Disability Made Easy installs wheelchair ramps, stair railings, grab bars, and other equipment that people might need to make their homes accessible and safe. The company was founded by two brothers whose father was diagnosed with ALS. When the home modifications they’d had done didn’t meet their standards, they started working on modifications themselves, and that inspired them to open Disability Made Easy. The company has been in operation since 2006.

Gorman’s Home Furnishings and Interior Design

Gorman’s Home Furnishing and Interior Design, which now has furniture stores in Novi, Troy, Southfield, and Farmington Hills, has been around for 85 years. President Duane Petroskey shares some of the company’s unique history, including how it began by selling damaged freight from the railroads. Duane sees furniture as an important piece of creating a home, and to give back to the community, the company has been collecting donated furniture and distributing it to three nonprofits in metro Detroit to help people in need. (To find out more about donating, visit https://www.gormans.com/housewarming.inc or call one of the stores.)
