Michigan Originals – Michigan Mittens

Michigan Originals – Michigan Mittens

Everything about Michigan Mittens makes sense: the maps of the upper and lower peninsulas on mittens. Company founder Connie Hahne dreamed up Michigan Mittens while driving home with her husband from their cabin in the Upper Peninsula. With the help of an established printing shop in Pontiac, Michigan Mittens is now in more than 200 stores statewide. More than just winter weather gear, Michigan Mittens has something for everyone who knows and loves the Great Lakes state.

Happy Girl Wine – Royal Oak

Happy Girl Wine – Royal Oak

Jocelin Arbenz and Abby Nowicki from Happy Girl Wine in Royal Oak just opened their shop a couple weeks ago. The shop caters to women ages 21 to 40, with an aim to make wine both affordable and fun to buy, without any pretense. Happy Girl sources clean wine with no additives, and much of it is also made with sustainable practices. You can sample the wines inside the shop, and you can also purchase the company’s cute logo hats. Watch for tasting events in the future.

Monarch Craft Studio

Monarch Craft Studio

Melissa Martiss misses her mother and grandmother terribly. To honor their love of crafting, she opened Monarch Craft Studio in April 2025. At Monarch, crafters sit at long tables and work on whatever project strikes their fancy. Melissa offers a wide variety of crafts ranging from painting ceramics and glass fusing to faux stained glass and canvas painting. She created a community place for making new friends in a welcoming environment all while keeping those creative juices flowing.
