Think Sweet

Jack Hazan, owner of Think Sweet in Farmington Hills, said he loves being part of the community and providing a welcoming space for kids. The shop offers bulk candy, Dubai chocolate, ice cream, slushes and more. In addition, there’s a space to host parties, a basketball hoop, arcade games, a connect four game and other games for kids to enjoy. Think Sweet opened in April of this year.

Dime Store

Mitchell Freem, co-owner of Dime Store, a brunch restaurant in Rochester Hills, told us about this new location, attached to Papa Joe’s Market. The eatery serves from-scratch brunch items that you won’t find anywhere else, like the duck pop hash, enchilada omelet, reuben omelet and more. Enjoy fresh-squeezed juice and brunch beverages like mimosas — including the popular peach-mint mimosa – and bloody Marys. The menu changes seasonally, so check back for new chef creations.

CAROLYN GARAY

Carolyn Garay is a Michigan-based surrealist painter and multimedia artist of figurative narrative and improvisational works. In her work, she uses mediums like oils, ink, and watercolors to explore themes of self, nature, technology, and human connection. She has been featured in galleries and art fairs across Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, and beyond. Caroyln has also taught third to eighth graders how to incorporate game play into art, math, and other educational programming.

Kitchen Creations

Monica Ingles, who co-owns Kitchen Creations in Farmington with her sister, Bertha Ferguson, told us about this 44-year-old business that supports the baking industry. Home bakers and cottage bakers shop there for cookie cutters, candy molds, dyes and even edible cake images they custom print there. She and her sister bring years of baking experience to the business. They own Sorella’s Cake Studio in Livonia as well. Monica’s looking forward to hosting more fun baking events at Kitchen Creations this winter.
