Matt Knio, owner of Cannelle in downtown Farmington, Birmingham and other locations, stopped by to tell us about the artisan bakery’s tradition of making chocolate Easter eggs with candy inside. You can get eggs with hazelnut and caramel, pistachio and more. Matt also mentioned Mother’s Day cakes with customized designs, which are available to order before Mother’s Day on May 11. Otherwise, stop in for Cannelle’s famous croissants and other pastries.

What’s New? – Never Forgotten Bakery

Michelle Neal, owner of Never Forgotten Bakery in Farmington, always has something new to share with us. This time around, she’s showcasing her Nancy Janes chocolate mint cookies, plus two other sweet treats involving bread and sprinkles. For the upcoming Easter holiday, Never Forgotten has decorate-your-own Easter cupcakes. For Mother’s Day, the bakery is offering decorate-your-own cakes, whereby customers can draw their designs and have them printed on rice paper to put on a cake. Michelle also gave us something to look forward to, as Never Forgotten’s new veggie bread is coming soon and will be available as a savory good.

What’s New? – Royal Oak Farmer’s Market

Shelly Mazur, market manager for the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market, stopped by to tell us about the market’s centennial celebration this year. The year-round market, located in a 22,000-square-foot building will kick off this year’s festivities with a flower market featuring 100 vendors on Memorial Day. Also planned are a corn roast and a fall harvest market in October, when the market first opened 100 years ago.

The new menu item joins Savvy’s famous sliders, chicken fingers, onion rings, cheesy curds, shakes and more. Savvy Sliders has multiple metro Detroit locations, including Farmington, Farmington Hills, Oak Park, Rochester, Sterling Heights, Troy, Ferndale and more.

The specials start March 14th, in case you’re celebrating early, but you can always stop in to enjoy the sports bar’s big-screen televisions, skee ball and arcade games, plus a dog-friendly patio when weather permits.

What’s New? – Great Lakes Pot Pies

Jannie Teitelbaum, owner of Great Lakes Pot Pies in Clawson, stopped by to tell us about a new offering for St. Patrick’s Day – shepherd’s pie. Available March 10 through Easter, it features ground beef and vegetables and is topped with mashed potatoes and cheese. The business’s handmade pies also include the original chicken, beef stew, vegetarian, breakfast pies and dessert pies like apple. You can find the chicken pot pies in over 400 stores, including Meijer.
